Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can attend the ReadyNation’s 2018 Global Business Summit on Early Childhood?

ReadyNation’s 12th major business summit gathers 200+ business leaders and senior policymakers to discuss investments in early childhood that strengthen the current and future workforce and promote economic vitality. We approve all registrants to ensure a business-focused audience from outside the children’s field.

U.S. participants must be business people (outside the early childhood sector), senior policy officials, economists or sponsors/funders. This includes staff from business groups such as chambers of commerce. A children’s advocate or other policy expert may attend with a team of at least four business people. Participants from outside the U.S. can be from any sector.

ReadyNation is offering special pre- and post-conference sessions for non-U.S. participants to learn how to build a sustainable, country-based network of business champions for children. These special sessions around the summit are intended for civic leaders, funders and children’s advocates from other countries who want to explore engaging the business community in their own.

Q: After I apply to register, what are the next steps?

You will receive an email confirming that ReadyNation has received your application. You will receive a timely response from our team indicating whether your application has been confirmed, denied or if you will be placed on a “wait list.” Confirmed parties will receive special instructions to proceed with official registration, payment and specifics about the hotel. Please DO NOT make any travel plans or hotel accommodations until your registration application is confirmed.

Q: What is included in my conference registration fee?

The conference registration fee covers access to the cocktail hour and welcome reception, general and workshop sessions, as well as meals provided during conference hours.

Q: Is there a refund policy?

All tickets are non-refundable unless the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural disaster) that would require closure of the hotel. (See transferability option below).

Q: Is my registration fee transferrable?

An accepted registrant may transfer his/her individual registration to someone else provided that the new name is approved by ReadyNation as a qualified business person.

Q: Who has attended the summit in the past?

Our previous event, in 2015, attracted more than 230 business and civic leaders from 100 companies or business groups and participants from 35 states and 15 countries. In a follow-up survey, 95% of participants rated the event 4 or 5 out of 5 in terms of its usefulness in helping them take action, and 9 months later 100% of survey respondents had taken concrete action— talking to policymakers, the media or other business leaders about investing in our youngest learners.

Past summit speakers include Fortune 500 company CEOs; senior staff from the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and UNICEF; U.S. Senators, Representatives and Governors; leaders in the U.S. Federal Reserve System; prominent researchers (including the 2000 Nobel Laureate in economics); and high-profile media personalities from major outlets such as Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Businessweek and CNN.
