Arne Duncan, the (then current) U.S. Secretary of Education, and Roy Bostock, vice-chairman of the board of Delta Air Lines and member of ReadyNation’s CEO Task Force on Early Childhood, [wrote a joint oped in the Atlanta Journal Constitution (http://getschooled.blog.myajc.com/2015/04/16/arne-duncan-and-deltaairlines-leader-call-for-national-policy-to-include-preschool/) about the importance of including preschool in national policy. Calling for the support of an amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Duncan and Bostock discussed the moral reasons, research findings, and economic outcomes that support the inclusion of quality early childhood programs in ESEA.
