Calling for expanded support and resources for high-quality preschool, John Pepper, former chairman and CEO of Procter & Gamble, and James Zimmerman, former chairman and chief executive of Macy’s published an oped in The New York Times called Capitalists for Preschool. In the oped, Pepper and Zimmerman, both of whom are co-chairs of ReadyNation’s CEO Task Force on Early Childhood, stated how the evidence of positive outcomes from high-quality preschool is undeniable, and why early childhood education is vitally important for children from families of all economic levels.
Do we really think it is fair to predetermine children’s chances for success in life based on what ZIP code they live in? Doesn’t every child deserve as close to the same chance to develop her or his abilities as any other child?
