The Importance of Home Visiting Programs

In this video, police chiefs say that home visiting reduces the rate of crime committed by women

Several members of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids stormed Capitol Hill to deliver an important message to Congress: Professional home visitors are essential partners in preventing crime by women and keeping them out of orange jumpsuits.

Along with the Fight Crime: Invest in Kids report, “Orange is Not Your Color,” these law enforcement leaders brought a letter signed by more than 1,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, and violence survivors from across the country urging Congress to renew the federal home visiting program known as the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood (MIECHV) Program.

This video describes what home-visiting programs look like, and features law enforcement leaders talking about their link to less crime by women.
