Statement on the White House’s Request to Prioritize Child Care Funding

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Council for a Strong America President and CEO, Barry Ford, made the following statement today on the news of President Biden’s request to Congress for additional funding for early learning and child care:

“We applaud President Biden and his administration for prioritizing funding for early learning and child care in his latest request to Congress. As our recent reports from ReadyNation and Fight Crime: Invest in Kids have shown, failing to address the child care crisis is detrimental to our children, our economy, and public safety. With the child care crisis costing our economy an estimated $122 billion each year, more needs to be done to bring about solutions to this problem. Council for a Strong America members stand ready to work with policymakers to continue to ensure we do all we can to set our children up for healthy and productive lives.”
