In Memoriam: Major General (Ret.) Tim Lowenberg, U.S. Air Force

We are deeply saddened by the passing of General Lowenberg of Tacoma, Washington, a valued member of Mission: Readiness for the past four years

Message from our Washington State Director, Kristin Wiggins:

Our Mission: Readiness team is deeply saddened by the loss of Major General (Ret.) Tim Lowenberg, U.S. Air Force, an inspiring leader for the Evergreen State and our nation.

General Lowenberg served as the Adjutant General of Washington from 1999 until his retirement in 2012. After relinquishing his command, General Lowenberg continued to serve our state as a dedicated volunteer to improve the lives of our youngest citizens.

General Lowenberg presented Congressman Dave Reichert with a Citizen Readiness Award in October 2016

We are so fortunate to have had him as a valued member of Mission: Readiness for the past four years. He took many actions on behalf of Mission: Readiness, including presenting Congressman Dave Reichert with a Citizen Readiness Award in October 2016 in acknowledgement of the Congressman’s leadership on home visiting services for vulnerable babies and young children. At this meeting, it was a great joy to hear them talk about their work to support the Youth Academy in Bremerton.

General Lowenberg supported the youngest learners who are farthest from opportunity in our state by advocating for increased access to high-quality early childhood education so that kids have a strong start in school and life. His generosity in sharing his time, insights, and strategic counsel was so valued in our Mission: Readiness work.

General Lowenberg leaves behind a large legacy due to his extensive service and leadership in government. The Tacoma News Tribune and Seattle Times published nice pieces about his lifelong work.
