Aaron Kennard
Former Executive Director, National Sheriff’s Association
Aaron D. Kennard joined the National Sheriff’s Association as Executive Director in 2007, after being elected President in 2004. He also has held key leadership positions with the Utah Sheriff’s Association, Utah State Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, the Salt Lake Area Gang Project, and the National Association of Counties (NACo). In 1990, he was first elected Sheriff of Salt Lake City, after having served 20 years with the Salt Lake City Police Department. Sheriff Kennard holds a master’s degree in Public Administration, and graduated from the FBI National Executive Institute.
As member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Sheriff Kennard has met with leadership in Congress to convey the importance of early investments in children, youth and families as an evidenced-based means of crime prevention.
