Boyd Palmer

Boyd Palmer has been a member of ReadyNation since 2011. Prior to joining the Ottawa Area Chamber in 2006, Palmer directed the Small Business Development Center at Illinois Valley Community College for 20 years. He also worked with his family’s business, a drugstore, from 1961 to 2014. Over time, this business grew to include leasing three additional health-and-beauty-aids departments in discount stores and, eventually, the development of a shopping center in Peru, Illinois. From 1958 to 61, Palmer was a motion-picture writer for the Boeing Company in Seattle. There, he wrote training films and films for colleges. He worked on films about research and development for new military aviation projects. He has served as President of the Ottawa Rotary Club, Chairman of the Ottawa Area Chamber, and Chairman of Ottawa’s Economic Development Task Force.
