David Clouse

Sheriff, Navajo County, AZ

Sheriff David Clouse has served the residents of Navajo County (AZ) for over 15 years. He began his career with NCSO as a patrol deputy, and was named Deputy of the Year in 2011 and Supervisor of the Year in 2016. Sheriff Clouse has had a long, successful career with NCSO, overseeing Patrol, Dispatch, Training, Criminal Investigations, Property & Evidence, and the Civil Division. On February 12, 2019, he was sworn in as the 18th Sheriff of Navajo County.

Sheriff Clouse holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from Northern Arizona University and a Certified Public Manager credential from Arizona State University. He also completed Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command program, several certificate programs from the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, and the National Sheriffs’ Institute’s Jail Management Course.

Sheriff Clouse is a member of the Arizona Sheriff’s Association, Western States Sheriffs’ Association, National Sheriffs’ Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Sheriff Clouse is an Arizona native and has generational ties to Navajo County and the Sheriff’s Office. He is the grandson of former Navajo County Sheriff Glen L. Flake, who served as Sheriff for 12 years and in law enforcement for 29 years. Sheriff Clouse’s great-grandfather, S. Eugene Flake, was a deputy for NCSO in the 1930s-40s. Sheriff Clouse, his wife Angela, and their four daughters and one son live in Snowflake, meaning seven generations of his family have lived in Navajo County.
