Donald Ash

Sheriff (Ret.), Wyandotte County (KS) Sheriff’s Office

As a member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Sheriff Ash has been a continuous advocate for the expansion of high-quality, accessible early education, voluntary home visiting programs and mental health reform.

Sheriff Donald Ash was raised in Wyandotte County, Kansas, and has lived his entire life in Kansas City. He began his law enforcement career as a police cadet for the Kansas City Kansas Police Department in 1972, and served continuously through 2006.

Throughout his 35-year career in law enforcement, Sheriff Ash has received numerous letters of recognition and commendations. He has also been a registered football and basketball official with the Kansas State High School Activities Association and has coached baseball, football, and basketball through the Wyandotte County Sports Association. Since 1990, he has coached basketball and football at Piper Middle School.

He has an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Kansas City Kansas Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management of Human Relations from Mid-America Nazarene University. He retired as Wyandotte County (KS) Sheriff in December 2021.
