Lydia Irby

Assistant Group Manager, Human Resources Toyota Mississippi

In this role, Lydia is responsible for overseeing all areas of human resources including compensation, benefits, talent development, training & learning, executive liaison, strategic planning, HR analytics, and HR communications at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi.

The manufacturing facility, located in Blue Springs, produces the Corolla, Toyota’s highest volume selling vehicle globally.

Irby has 17 years’ experience with Toyota. She joined Toyota in 2006 as an HR analyst at the manufacturing facility in Long Beach, California. During her time at Toyota, Irby has served in several leadership positions within the Human Resources department, working at four different manufacturing plants, three headquarters, and an overseas assignment in Japan.

Prior to working at Toyota, Irby served as the Principal at Light & Life Christian School in Long Beach, California.

Irby enjoys learning languages, speaking both Japanese and Spanish. She is the current executive advisor of the Women Influencing and Impacting Toyota Business Partnering Group (BPG) at TMMMS, and a member of the African American Collaborative BPG.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University, Master of Business Administration in Operations Management from The University of Southern California, and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from The University of California, Berkeley.

She resides in Tupelo, Mississippi with her dog, Java.
