Shawn Rossi, DHA, FACHE, serves as the Vice President of Communications and Member Engagement for the Mississippi Hospital Association and as an adjunct instructor for the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Doctor of Health Administration program. She participates in the Mississippi Perinatal Quality Collaborative with the Mississippi Public Health Institute. She is a board-certified American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Fellow. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency, the Mississippi Public Health Association, the ACHE of Mississippi, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) Alumni Association. She is a University of Southern Mississippi’s (USM’s) Community Health Advisory Board member.
Dr. Rossi holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in English from USM and a doctorate in health administration (DHA) from UMMC. She was named a Top 40 Under 40 by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2008. In 2014, she was issued the Senior Practitioner Award by the Southern Public Relations Federation. Dr. Rossi won the ACHE Regent’s Award for Mississippi in 2017.
At UMMC, she won the DHA Outstanding Student Award in 2021 and First Place in the DHA category during the 2021 UMMC SHRP Research Day. Dr. Rossi’s research focuses on community health improvement, investment, and collaboration. In 2023, she signed a book contract with ACHE’s Health Administration Press. Her upcoming book is titled Socially Determined: The Healthcare Executive’s Role in Health Equity.
