Shelly Masur Named As New California State Director

Shelly Masur brings more than 20 years of experience working with youth-serving nonprofits

Washington, D.C. (August 28, 2020) — Council for a Strong America (CSA) has named Shelly Masur its new California State Director. Masur brings more than 20 years of experience working with youth-serving nonprofits. Masur’s collaborative approach and commitment to coalition-building will help CSA’s California office continue to grow its members’ early childhood, K-12, afterschool, and postsecondary education advocacy. A well-known and recognized leader in the education community, Masur will bring passion, dedication, and invaluable expertise to the role and organization as a whole.

“CSA’s California Office has a 20-year history of convincing policymakers and the public that investments in kids and families are critical to public safety, national security, and a strong economy,” said Barry Ford, Council for a Strong America’s President and CEO. “Shelly’s impressive experience in nonprofit leadership, paired with her commitment and passion to improving the lives of children and youth, will allow us to build on that legacy and ensure more California children grow up prepared for success.”

Prior to joining CSA, Masur was the CEO of the Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation. In that role, she expanded the team and led critical education policy coalitions in the state. Masur has held positions on the Redwood City School Board and SKM Consulting. She is also currently the Vice Mayor of Redwood City, CA.
