Washington, D.C. - Today, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids congratulates President-Elect Joe Biden’s nominees to lead the Department of Justice. Those nominees include Judge Merrick Garland, nominee for Attorney General; Lisa Monaco, nominee for Deputy Attorney General; Vanita Gupta, nominee for Associate Attorney General; and Kristen Clarke, nominee for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division.
“On behalf of the more than 5,000 law enforcement leaders––police chiefs, sheriffs, and prosecutors––nationwide of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, I congratulate the nominees to lead the Department of Justice under President-elect Joe Biden’s administration. We look forward to working with these nominees, if confirmed, to ensure more youth have access to evidence-based juvenile crime prevention and diversion programs that will keep our communities safe and keep fewer youth out of the juvenile justice system,” said Leon County (FL) Sheriff Walt McNeil, a member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids National Leadership Council and Past President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. “As law enforcement leaders sworn to protect our communities, we want to partner with the new administration to support investments in research-proven programs that can set children on the path for success and, in doing so, ease the inequities experienced by far too many of our nation’s children.”
