WASHINGTON, DCCouncil for a Strong America President and CEO, Barry Ford, made the following statement today on the news of the deaths of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R-IN) and members of her staff:

We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the tragic deaths of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Emma Thomson, her communications director, and Zachery Potts, her district director. Congresswoman Walorski was a strong champion for many of Council for a Strong America’s priorities. As Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support, Congresswoman Walorski was a fierce advocate for home visiting programs, and we were fortunate to work with her and her staff in ensuring children and families benefit from these vital services. Council for a Strong America extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, constituents, and colleagues of Congresswoman Walorski, Emma Thomson, and Zachery Potts.
