Major General (Ret.) Verna D. Fairchild, U.S. Air Force shares Mission: Readiness' latest messages on academic standards and assessments

In this op-ed for The State Journal, Major General (Ret.) Verna D. Fairchild, U.S. Air Force, discusses how Kentucky’s rigorous education standards and assessments can help address the poor educational achievement that prevents many young Kentuckians from having the option to serve in the military.

Kentucky is moving in the right direction and should continue on this course to ensure that students will be better prepared to aim high for postsecondary education, the civilian workforce or the military, if they choose to serve.
