“It’s heartening to see K-12 funding finally, ten years later, restored to 2008 levels, as well as proposed investments in early education and home visiting. However, the question we must ask ourselves is: how are we going to meet the increasing needs of our children and families? We need a vision for the future that takes into account the value of investments in the lives of children, ​and ​not only to the children themselves, but also to public safety, economic competitiveness and national security. Moving forward, we need to invest more in educatio​n – in ​the ​LCFF​, and ​also to sustain our ground-breaking after-school programs and make sure all children have access to high-quality early education.”
