Integrated Services, including Afterschool Programs

Participation in after-school programs has risen steadily over the past 20 years, with an increasing number of parents in the workforce. However, children whose parents cannot afford the rising cost of after-school programs are often left unsupervised or in poorly performing programs—which can lead to risky behaviors including drug abuse, crime, and teenage pregnancy. Council for a Strong America works at the state and federal levels to improve access to evidence-based afterschool programs in order to improve educational outcomes and prevent crime.
