Business Counts: How Business Can Contribute to an Accurate 2020 Census

The U.S. Constitution mandates a count of every person in America every 10 years, and the next such census will be conducted in 2020. Data from the decennial count produces critical information about the population that contributes to a thriving US economy.

Achieving an accurate population count is imperative, and business can play a key role by encouraging customers, employees and the general public to complete their census questionnaires.

This report offers:

  1. A basic overview of the 2020 Census;
  2. Examples of how business can plug into national and local census efforts; and
  3. A range of actions that businesses and business membership organizations can take to support a successful count, including examples of how some companies participated during the 2000 and 2010 Censuses.

This report will be regularly updated with examples of how the business community is supporting an accurate 2020 count, so please check back.
