David B. Rausch

Director, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation

David B. Rausch was recently appointed Director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee’s lead law enforcement agency. Previously, he was with the Knoxville Police Department since January 1993 and became Chief of Police in 2011.

Director Rausch served in the Military Police Corps from 1986-1990, and is a graduate of the 105th Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute. He is also a graduate of several national and international Police Institutes and Seminars, including the Federal Bureau of Investigations 218th National Academy Class in 2004, Police Services of Northern Ireland, Scottish Police College, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Australian Police Services. Director Rausch is an instructor of various law enforcement topics, and is an Adjunct Faculty Member of the South College Criminal Justice Program in Knoxville and Bethel University in McKenzie.

Director Rausch became a member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids soon after being named Chief of Police in 2011. He has been a key voice pushing for early childhood interventions both on the state and federal level. He has played a critical role in helping Fight Crime: Invest in Kids build a membership of law enforcement leaders in Tennessee.
