Post 1: Why is #MIECHV so important? Through consistent engagement with trained professionals, in the home or via virtual visits, parents receive guidance, preparation, tools, and gain access to community resources needed to effectively stimulate healthy development in their children. Participation in voluntary home visiting programs also helps parents avoid harmful parenting practices, such as child maltreatment, that can lead to long-term developmental issues. Post 3: What makes the MIECHV program successful? 1. The multifaceted approach which allows providers of voluntary home visiting programs to create systems that cater to specific family needs such as staffing, intensity, range of services, age of the child, and targeted outcomes. 2. Prioritization of vulnerable populations such as families with low incomes, young mothers, families with children who have a disability or developmental delay, families with a history of substance use, and families with tobacco users. 3. The multi-generational impacts, studies show that mothers who receive home visits were less likely to engage in substance use, and their children were more likely to perform well academically. 4. Evidence-driven results which experts regularly evaluate at the state and federal levels to ensure the programs are operating as designed and achieving intended outcomes.
