WASHINGTON, D.C. — Council for a Strong America President and CEO Barry Ford, J.D., released this statement in response to the U.S. House of Representatives passing bipartisan legislation to enhance the Child Tax Credit (CTC):
“On behalf of the members of Council for a Strong America, I applaud the House of Representatives for passing the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, which will enhance the Child Tax Credit over the next three years.
“While the legislation falls short of the enhanced CTC that Congress passed in 2021, this is a step in the right direction, and we are grateful to see such strong bipartisan support for the CTC. This expansion of the CTC could benefit nearly 15 million additional children, including raising 400,000 children out of poverty in the first year alone.
“CSA was proud to join with national partners in urging support for enhancing the CTC, and we are deeply appreciative of our members from across the country who contacted their lawmakers about the importance of enhancing the CTC for their communities.
“We are hopeful the Senate will swiftly consider this legislation and look forward to continued bipartisan progress that helps children and working families.”
