A Message from President and CEO Barry Ford

This journey has deepened my appreciation for the powerful work of our law enforcement, retired military, business, faith and sports leaders.

Barry D. Ford, J.D.

On January 3, 2019, the Board of Directors of Council for a Strong America voted unanimously to appoint me the President and CEO of this amazing organization. This announcement marks the latest step on a journey I began when I joined CSA as Director of State Offices in March 2015. Since 2015, I have been privileged to lead and to learn from the best group of professionals with whom I have ever had the opportunity to work.

I have seen the organization through the eyes of our state directors who so expertly navigate the policy advocacy landscape in their states. I have seen it through our national organizations who recruit, organize, educate and mobilize our members. I have seen it through our federal policy, state policy, research and communications teams who craft and advance the arguments that support public investments in kids that strengthen our nation. And I have seen it through the day-to-day work of everyone responsible for the vital support functions that enable CSA to remain strong.

This journey has deepened my appreciation for the powerful work of our law enforcement, retired military, business, faith and sports leaders. As you’ll see from our 2018 end-of-year report and our 2017 Annual Report, there’s ample evidence that America’s national security, public safety and economy are strengthened when young people are prepared for productive lives. Day after day, my conversations with members of all five of our organizations reinforce the value of their experiences, insights, and dedication to policies and practices that will drive our nation forward.

This organization is and seeks to remain a major advocacy force for the interests of children and youth, and an indispensable ally to all of our partners. This is going to be a busy year for us as we work with a new Congress and lawmakers in states throughout the country to ensure more kids grow up healthy, well-educated and poised to succeed. I hope you’ll visit this website often, and follow me on Twitter, as I share my own thoughts and insights about the course we’re charting in collaboration with allies, funders, and supporters of the great work our members do every day.

Best Wishes,

Barry Ford
