Chief of Police, Houston

Art Acevedo is a long-time member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids and a former Board member of Council for a Strong America. Outside of his work with Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Acevedo continues building a strong America through his position as the Houston Chief of Police. There, he leads over 5,200 law enforcement officers and 1,200 civilian support personnel as they protect and serve one of the nation’s largest and most diverse cities. Previously, Acevedo spent nearly 10 years as chief of police of Austin, TX, and 21 years working with the California State Highway Patrol. He graduated with honors from the University of La Verne in California with a B.S. in Public Administration.
