Deeper Learning Is a Key to Building the Workforce in Colorado [VIDEO]

Bridging the gap between academics and the real world

Jeff Wasden, President of the Colorado Business Roundtable and member of ReadyNation, recently discussed the importance of deeper learning to Colorado’s growing workforce. Colorado is projected to face a serious skills gap in the coming decade, suffering a shortage of highly-skilled workers (those with bachelor’s degrees or higher). Colorado is in need of workers who have both basic technical proficiency and executive-functioning skills, such as effective communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

This video explains how deeper learning ensures that kids are provided with skills that make them competitive in the workforce. With deeper learning, children not only learn traditional academics, but are also placed in project-based and real-world experiences that impart additional skills. The skills that comprise deeper learning will benefit students in school, careers, and life. The program ensures academic balance and real-world lessons in order to create productive and successful working adults.
