Athletes and coaches promoting policy solutions for at-risk kids to compete in life
About Champions for America's Future
Founded in 2013, Champions for America’s Future now boasts a roster that includes hundreds of prominent athletes, coaches, and sports leaders. Everyone who has joined the team aims to reach a common goal: to level the playing field for at-risk children in this country so they can compete successfully in life.
From skating legend Peggy Fleming, to Heisman trophy-winner Herschel Walker, to Coach K of Duke University basketball fame, Champion’s members educate state and federal policymakers and the public about practices and policies that have a proven impact on preparing children to become smart, healthy, active, and productive citizens.
Our athletes, coaches, and sports leaders champion strategies that:
- Make sure that America’s kids are ready to learn. From calling for high-quality preschool to lowering high school dropout rates, Champions for America’s Future aims for all children to succeed academically.
- Help parents be their kids’ first coaches. To prevent kids from falling through the cracks, Champions for America’s Future supports proven, voluntary parent coaching programs.
- Ensure America’s kids are healthy. Champions for America’s Future fights childhood obesity by urging better school nutrition and physical education programs.
These children might be scrambling to catch up for the rest of their education–and possibly for the rest of their lives.
