Career Technical Education

Over the past few decades, “Career and Technical Education” or CTE has superseded traditional vocational education—and assumed a new role in preparing high school students for college and the workforce. A competitive job market and the rising costs of post-secondary education have contributed to CTE’s growing popularity among high school students of all backgrounds. Congress is currently working on the reauthorization of the Perkins Career & Technical Education Act, which would enable thousands of additional students to enroll in CTE programs nationwide. Council for a Strong America is informing lawmakers about the research linking CTE to a stronger economy.
