Walking and Biking
In 1970, half of all kids walked or biked to school. Now, only 13 percent do. In light of high childhood obesity rates, state and local leaders are working to reverse this trend, investing in sidewalks, bike lanes, parks, and other infrastructure that creates opportunities for physical activity. Council for a Strong America supports these efforts, highlighting research that shows the connection between healthier communities and a more secure nation.
